Why this site exists

When your family needs aged care, the last thing you want is a wall of government jargon and 200-page PDFs. You want someone to explain it simply, clearly, and honestly.

That’s what this site does. It takes the official information and translates it into plain English that anyone can understand — whether you’re a stressed carer, an anxious adult child, an older person researching options, or a GP who needs a quick reference.

This site was created by someone who went through the process with their own family and wished a guide like this had existed.

What this site is not

This is not a government website. It is not affiliated with My Aged Care, the Department of Health and Aged Care, or any aged care provider.

We don’t receive money from aged care providers. We don’t recommend specific providers. We don’t generate leads for anyone. There’s no hidden agenda here.

How this site is funded

Running this site costs money — hosting, domain registration, and the time it takes to keep pages accurate as the rules change. Here’s exactly how that’s covered:

How we keep information accurate

We source information from official government publications, legislation, and publicly available policy documents. We cross-reference with the Department of Health and Aged Care, the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission, and OPAN.

Every page shows a “last updated” date. When significant policy changes occur, we update the affected pages. We’re honest about uncertainty — if something is unclear or still being worked out by the government, we say so.

Accessibility

We’ve designed this site to be as accessible as possible, because the people who need aged care information are often older Australians or stressed family members who may not be tech-savvy.

Features include large text (18px minimum, with a font size toggle), high contrast colours, clear headings, a “listen to this page” button on every page, mobile-friendly responsive design, print-friendly layouts, and keyboard navigation throughout.

Privacy

This site does not collect personal information. There are no accounts, no sign-ups, no tracking pixels, and no cookies (beyond what’s technically necessary).

The self-check quiz does not store your answers anywhere — they exist only in your browser while you’re on the page, and disappear when you leave.
